Stickney is a crater on Phobos, a satellite belonging to the planet of Mars. The crater is about nine kilometers in length. The crater was discovered by Chloe Angeline Stickney Hall, the wife of famous astronomer, Asaph Hall.Stickney is the largest crater on Phobos, which is a satellite of Mars. It is taking up a substantial proportion of the moon's surface. Wikipedia

Stickney was created by a meteor floating through space. This meteor impacted with Phobos, almost destroying the moon, and created this crater. There is also a smaller crater inside this crater called Limtoc, from the character from Gulliver's Travels. Limtoc was caused from a smaller impact. Limtoc has a diameter of about 2 kilometers.

Visibility on EarthEdit

There is a slight possibility that this crater is visible with the naked eye from Earth. Unfortunately, Phobos is not easily seen from Earth, making it harder to see with the eye. Assistance with a telescope might facilitate the sight of this crater.

Science FictionEdit

In Kim Robinson's book, Red Mars, this crater is used as a Martian city that starts the first civilization on Mars.
