Swift (Deimian crater)

Voltaire is a crater named after Francois-Marie Arouet, which had the pen name Voltaire. It is about three kilometers in length and is the other crater on Deimos, the other being the Swift crater.

Voltaire was created by a loose asteroid in space that collided with Mars' satellite, Deimos. This crater was created from the impact.

Visibility from EarthEdit

There is limited visibility of this crater from Earth. Telescopes facilitate the visibility making it clearer to see. With the naked eye alone, the crater is not clearly seen, especially because Deimos does not appear to Earth clearly without the assistance of a telescope.
